Emmanuel does such a great job supporting Martin on all those chords in the second half of the piece. His voice brings such thickness to the overall sound. Truly deserving of his gold medal

Crazy listening to this years later. I was the original tenor soloist debuting this piece from Tarik. I think it was my first or second stint with Conspirare and we recorded in a famous studio in Albany New York. I was green GREEN! If we heard a truck pass by we would have to start over. A squeak from the risers and the same thing. We get to the end of the song where the tenor sings a half step away from the soprano and I had struggled hearing the note. Just so much going on. I still remember Craig asking me for just a squeeze of a cent higher. Oy vey. I still don’t think I got it correct. Maybe he had pity on me. But then again he would t put anything on that record if it weren’t perfect. We had another tenor in the chorus who had perfect pitch. Not relative. Perfect. But he didn’t replace me. Guess I did ok. 😂😂😂😂 lol. Just got some anxiety listening. My original reason for commenting was to say that I’d never considered the fact that after it was released others would listen to me for an example. Great job.

The term "Legato" might be a good word to suggest or indicate this 'wall of sound' technique. Essentially, it sounds like what they're saying is that the sound should continue, not broken up by consonants or dipthongs. Dipthongs are where two vowel sounds come together. An example is in the midwestern-American pronunciation of the word "Take". When said with this accent, it sounds like there are two vowel sounds squished together - "Ta-ee-k", as opposed to having one pure vowel sound, "Teh-k". When implementing the idea of legato singing, care is taken to keep every line or phrase whole, as one unit, without it being broken up by consonants. Consonants are short, and lead directly to the next vowel sound, so that they are as small an interruption as possible.

0:44 brighter going upwards, open going downwards, "Acoustix" style 3:18 open going upwards, brighter going downwards, very resonant chord locking, especially in low range 5:45 same placement in all ranges 8:28 attempting no "wall of sound"

It seems like the Pyramid is much easier than the inverted Pyramid, especially for the Tenors, I can see that it's difficult to keep that airy sound while still holding their parts against the bass

@@SnowcatArtit's pretty much like solfege, except do re mi and so on is 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 or back to 1 of course. A # means it's a half step higher, b means half step lower, so your classic bassline for a tritone sub for example would be 2-b2-1. Hope this helps :)
